Matter 1 – Quick Revision

Matter is everything that has mass and takes up space.

Three states:

• Solid – keeps its shape (stone, ice, wood)
• Liquid – flows and takes the shape of its container (water, oil)
• Gas – spreads out and fills the space (air, steam)

Material = what something is made of (wood, metal, plastic, glass, rubber)

Object = the thing itself (chair, bottle, spoon)

Property = how a material behaves (hard, soft, stretchy, transparent…)
